The challenges of dehydrated skin

The most effective way to distinguish between the various types of skin is to apply moisturizer. Dehydrated skin absorbs moisturizing creams really fast and is usually the cause for your makeup to disappear only after an hour or two from applying it. Water-lacking skin will absorb any moisture- saturated product immediately. Sometimes you can even feel a harsh itch when putting daily cream which means that your skin is severely dehydrated, the moisture in your epidermis evaporating extremely quickly and leaving this layer sapped and ashy.

As opposed to dry skin which is way harsher and prone to allergies, inflammation and more serious side effects, dehydrated skin is actually a milder condition and easier to treat. The key reason for the dry skin is its inability to produce oil, whereas dehydration does not imply oil deficiency. In fact, oily skin types are more likely to become dehydrated than dry ones.

Dehydration, although possible to be caused by genetic factors, is most often due to changes in weather or chemical saturation in the surrounding environment. Insufficient daily dose of water and constant exposure to air-conditioning without the use of a moisturizing device are serious contributors for this disorder. The monthly cycle or pregnancy can also contribute for the dehydration of the skin due to hormonal changes. Coffee or alcohol overdose are certain to lead you the same day. You also have to be careful with your diet – limiting foods with low water concentration can seriously damage your epidermis. In many cases dehydrated skin is an undesired effect from the improper treatment of acne-prone or oily skin with harsh cosmetics. Therefore, it is absolutely mandatory to check your skin condition with a specialist before applying any random products.
